ST247 Drugs and alcohol, sexual violence and mental health
Thursday, 20 August 2009, 9.00 am – 4.30 pm

Presenter: Judi Stone, Acting Manager, Workforce Development Branch, DAO

There is a strong relationship between mental health problems, drug and alcohol use, and people who have experienced child sexual abuse. People working in the mental health or drug and alcohol field can find it challenging working with sexual abuse issues and can often feel as though they don’t have the skills or knowledge to address sexual abuse. The focus of this workshop will be on the links between these behaviours, and the therapeutic options available. This workshop will also include information specifically about issues affecting males who have experienced sexual abuse.

Target audience: This workshop is recommended for workers with limited experience working with sexual abuse issues who currently work with clients affected by mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues.
