About this event
This training event is for people working in the AOD sector.
This training aims to equip new AOD workers with the foundation knowledge and skills required to work effectively with clients presenting with AOD problems.
Topics include: models and frameworks for understanding and assessing drug using behaviour; strategies for reducing drug-related harm; pharmacotherapy treatments; an introduction to statewide Aboriginal services, programs and resources; AOD counselling skills, including motivational interviewing, problem solving, goal setting and relapse prevention; working with comorbidity; family inclusive practice; professional practice issues and worker self care; and working in partnership with other key service providers such as Department for Child Protection and Family Support and Department of Corrective Services.

While all events are free, places are limited and registration does not guarantee a place at an event. If you are offered a place, we ask that you make a commitment to attend. If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible – as we may be able to offer your place to another applicant.
Where it is agency policy, you must have your manager’s approval to attend prior to submitting your application.
