Integrated Services

The integration of alcohol and drug services across the metropolitan region is now well underway. The new Community Drug Services (CDS) offer the range of treatment and prevention services previously provided by the community drug service teams, and the Drug and Alcohol Office's Next Step.

The North Metropolitan Community Drug Service (CDS) is managed through Cyrenian House. The service has both a prevention and therapeutic intervention focus that can be accessed by individuals, families, and the local community. The head office is based in Warwick, with two offices based in Joondalup and at Cyrenian House in Northbridge. The North Metro CDS also has outreach locations within the north metro areas.

Services provided include free and confidential:

Assessment and referral

Counselling including case management (adult, youth, significant others, and family)

Services for people referred by police and the courts including Drug Court (diversion services)

Services for people referred by other agencies including mental health, corrective services, Dept for Child Protection, and GPs

Withdrawal management including home-based withdrawal management (through DAWN)

Clinical Psychology

Medical assessment and review

Opiate and alcohol pharmacotherapy

Community-based prevention and community development activities

Specific counselling services provided:

Drug and alcohol counselling to individuals and family members (Both single session and medium term). Support to mainstream human service providers in addressing alcohol and drug related issues. Services to youth. Group programs.

Community services provided:

Support to community groups and assistance with planning, implementing and co-ordination of responses to alcohol and other drug issues. Education and program development in response to identified community needs.

Target Groups

Individual users. Their family members. The local community.
